Uganda, being the Pearl of Africa deserves the best quality homes. We at Aesthetic Developers are focused on providing you with top-notch quality and efficacy in our projects.    Our project named Habitat 854 is designed on the core idea of Sustainable living and high-quality construction. Habitat 854 is now under construction and on the path of delivering the promises, we have made.    In the previous Construction Update, we talked about how the substructure was being built and on the verge of completion. Here is the next construction update about the actions taken since the previous post and our commitment towards our goal:

What is it for?

With part of the substructure being completed, the construction of the Superstructure has begun in full swing. The superstructure consists of the columns, beams, slabs and staircases seen above the ground.    The superstructure has been constructed up to the 1st floor. The staircase from the ground floor to the 1st floor has also been constructed and the steel reinforcement for the above floor is being laid in columns, beams and slabs for RCC casting   Usually, max-span is used in construction in Uganda, but we have decided to go for Solid-slab construction. The reason for choosing this type of construction is that max-span slabs are not soundproof and you can hear what is going on, on the floor above you.    The proper procedure of centering and shuttering is being followed to cast the beams and the slabs on site. Centering is the process of creating the formwork for supporting the beams and shuttering is the process of creating the formwork for supporting the columns. The construction of the remaining part of the substructure has also begun and the footings have been cast.    The columns for the ground floor have been cast and the walls built. The use of Locally manufactured solid blocks and clay bricks for building the walls showcases our dedication towards providing you with the best quality sustainable materials right from the footings to the interiors.

Why does it matter to you?

How the use of Locally manufactured solid blocks and clay bricks will help you as a resident?  Following are the advantages:
  • Durable and Low Maintenance

    • Locally made brick is a low-maintenance, permanent and durable building material that doesn’t rot or corrode, rust or burn, decay or encourage mold growth. The use of clay brick will minimize the risk and environmental costs of premature failure of building components.

  • Resource Management

    • The use of clay bricks is the most efficient use of the “abundant” resource of clay.

  • Energy Efficiency and Reduced Emissions

    • The durability of clay bricks i.e. 100+ years reduces the energy needs and replacement needs – thereby reducing emissions of constant manufacturing.

  • Social Impact

    • Naturally occurring clay is inert and also the only material that emits no Since volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This results in better occupant health, comfort and productivity.

  • Fire Resistant

    • Because of the brick’s inherent strength and fire resistance, it often remains standing even under the harshest conditions.

  • Maintains the perfect temperature

    • Brick’s passive-solar qualities and thermal mass properties take advantage of the sun’s energy for heating and cooling, keeping rooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

The ultimate benefits.

In Uganda, earthquakes are a common phenomenon. So we are focused on building an earthquake-resistant structure that can withstand these tremors and not affect the normal lifestyle of its residents. This is done by decreasing the distance between the primary and secondary links ties in construction to 75mm c/c in columns.   With such construction updates and material information, we will continue to strive towards a more sustainable and better world with our expertise, research, designs, and construction methodology.    Stay tuned for more construction updates…
